Chicago

We woke at 4.30am inevitably and had a very slow start. James had found a little Italian place just next to the hotel which does a great breakfast and we started to digest the Sunday New York Times which weighs a ton. Today started so misty that the tops of the skyscrapers were disappearing into the clouds. Mooched around the city, had lunch at Buddy Guys Legends, a great Blues Bar and listened to Nick Barron. We were going to go tonight but it’s closed for a private function. As I had been to the Art Institute on a previous trip, we visited the Museum of Contemporary Photography at Columbia College which was a treat. We stopped by the ‘Start of Route 66’ sign on West Adams St and met some folks who were about to do it on Harley Davidsons. No sign of a Liverpool FC shirt as yet but someone had put an Everton sticker on the signpost. Tomorrow promises to be even hotter than today and we just hope that the storms in the southwest have moved on by the time we get there so we can do some canyon hiking. Dinner at the Cheesecake Factory tonight (they do serve other things as well)Skyscraper in the clouds 1Nick Barron at Buddy Guys Legends 2
